Lanciatosi con il paracadute, fu catturato poco dopo a Pietratagliata, frazione di Pontebba. Fu internato prima nello Stalag Luft III di Sagan-Slesia e quindi nel campo di Norimberga-Langwasser, in Baviera, fino alla liberazione da parte delle truppe americane a metà aprile 1945.Having bailed out, he was captured soon afterwards at Pietratagliata, a hamlet of Pontebba. He was held first at Stalag Luft III in Sagan-Silesia and then at the Nuremberg-Langwasser camp in Bavaria, until his liberation by American troops in mid-April 1945.Nach dem Absprung mit dem Fallschirm wurde er kurz darauf in Pietratagliata, einem Ortsteil von Pontebba, gefangen genommen. Er war zunächst im Stalag Luft III in Sagan-Schlesien und danach im Lager Nürnberg-Langwasser in Bayern interniert, bis er Mitte April 1945 von amerikanischen Truppen befreit wurde.
Dopo il rimpatrio si laureò alla Texas A&M University nel 1949 e proseguì la carriera militare, raggiungendo il grado di tenente colonnello dell'United States Air Force.
